I’ve been avoiding Pinterest like the plague for fear of getting any real work done.
At first, I was discouraged because I didn’t think there was a way for DomainsFLow to use Pinterest in a productive way.
However, it’s such a platform that all of its users are still trying to figure out how to use and organize.
If your business hasn’t made use of Pinterest yet, here are 5 reasons why you should.
Quickly surpassing current favorites
Pinterest is not only picking up steam in social media circles, it has become a proven source of traffic for blogs and websites.
Shareaholic is the service that facilitates sharing content on the Internet, announced new research data in which there are some very interesting facts.
For the first time Pinterest surpassed Twitter, StumbleUpon, Bing and Google in the referral traffic segment. Mean that this social network brings more traffic to the site than the previously mentioned services.
Of course, it doesn’t include Google’s organic search, but Google is still Google. Furthermore, the research has been conducted on over 200,000 publishers who have a range of over 270 million users a month.
Earlier this year Pinterest began bringing more traffic to the site than Google +, LinkedIn and YouTube together, and in February it became bigger than Twitter when it comes to referral traffic.
The table shows that Pinterest increased from 0.85% in January to 1.19% in May, but this number is not significant if we look at Google’s organic search, which has about 46.8%.
Interestingly in the whole story, as TechCrunch points out, is that Pinterest is very close to StumbleUpon by number of users, although Pinterest does not want to disclose the exact number of users, we talk about 20 million, while StumbleUpon has 25 million.
So, what’s YOUR story with Pinterest?
I must admit I still need to figure out how effectively use this pinning thing ;). Any suggestions?
